Celebration Park!!

What an exciting day we had today!! I was lucky enough to go on a field trip with Zac and the rest of Miss Schwartz's class to Celebration Park! I had never been there before and it was so much fun!
First we went on a tour to see the petroglyphs.
Our guide was amazing and he showed us many of the pictures and told us what some of their theories were for what they meant. He also gave us some general history for the area. It was so fascinating!
Then we went to try our hand at the Atlatl. How have I never heard this before? When you throw a spear with your hand the front doesn't go as fast as it could because of how you throw it. So you us an Atlatl and it makes it go faster. Crazy huh?! The girl who helped was sooo nice! Also if you hit the Mammoth target you got a dollar and guess who hit it?? Yep me! Crazy! Anyway the kids all had a great time and it was Miss Schwartz's favorite part of the day!
Next we had a great guy telling us about life in the area from the Ice Age on and it was amazing! We saw fossils and arrowheads and hunting techniques! He told it in such a way that you were learning but having fun! One thing that stuck in the kids' mind was how much a hammer was a hunting tool back when!
After lunch we took a walk up to Guffy Bridge. The stories they told were so cool and the things that happened! My family is all very into history and the stuff was just so cool. We can't wait to take Steve back!
Well, speaking of Steve, he says he wants to eat dinner with me so I must go!
Chow for now!
